Research Centres and Initiatives
The Vancouver School of Economics manages the British Columbia Inter-University Research Data Centre. The Data Centre provides access, for approved projects, to selected confidential Statistics Canada micro-level data. These datasets include the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth, the National Population Health Survey, and the Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics, among many others. The Data Centre provides support for both individual and team projects and offers a comprehensive research environment with powerful computing technology.
UBC economics students may take advantage of The Institute for Advanced Studies in Economics, a collaborative teaching and research initiative by the Vancouver School of Economics and the Strategy and Business Economics Division, Sauder School of Business.
The School is also home to the Canadian Labour Market and Skills Research Network (CLSRN), a network of academic researchers working on issues related to the labour market, skills development and public policy. The central activities of the CLSRN include the commissioning of research projects, and the organization of major research conferences, workshops and seminars.
