Irrational Exuberance and Neural Warning Signals During Endogenous Experimental Market Bubbles

Distinguished professors Colin Camerer (California Institute of Technology, Behavioral Economics) and Michael Kearns (University of Pennsylvania, Computer Science) will visit UBC next week as Cecil H. and Ida Green Visiting Professors. The Vancouver School of Economics is pleased to be a supporter of this visiting professor lecture series.

This is an amazing opportunity hear two of the leading scholars who bridge economics and finance with psychology and neuroscience (Camerer) and machine learning (Kearns).

The lectures are free and registration is not required. There are several opportunities to attend their talks:

Tuesday (March 11) they will give a joint public lecture in Green College on Beyond Economic Rationality , starting at 5:00pm in the Coach House in Green College (6201 Cecil Green Park Road). This lecture is open to UBC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the general public.

Wednesday (March 12) they will visit the Vancouver School of Economics and give two seminars:

12:00 pm – 1:30 pm: Colin Camerer will present: “Irrational Exuberance and Neural Warning Signals During Endogenous Experimental Market Bubbles” in Woodward Building, Room 3 (2194 Health Sciences Mall). This lecture is open to UBC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the general public.

3:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Michael Kearns will present: “Behavioral Experiments in Networked Trade” in Brock Hall, Room 2365 (1874 East Mall). This lecture is open to UBC faculty and economics students in graduate-level programs of study.
