Economics Professor Craig Riddell is the 2012 winner of the prestigious Mike McCracken Award for Economic Statistics, presented by the Canadian Economics Association. The national award recognizes both theoretical and applied contributions of all sorts that have contributed in important ways to the development or use of official economic statistics.

Professor Riddell is the Royal Bank Faculty Research Professor in the Vancouver School of Economics, and Academic Director of the Canadian Labour Market and Skills Research Network. He is also a Research Fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM), and serves on Statistics Canada’s Advisory Committee on Labour and Income Statistics and on the Board of Directors of the Centre for the Study of Living Standards.

His teaching and research interests are in labour economics, labour relations and public policy. Currently, his research focuses on education, skills formation, immigration, unemployment, unemployment insurance, and inequality.
