Sophie Cetre Wins W. Erwin Diewert Prize

Congratulations Sophie Cetre, winner of a W. Erwin Diewert Prize in Applied Economics!

Sophie won for her paper “Assessment of the Distributional Impact of the Tuition Tax Credit as Regards Efficiency and Equity Criteria in Canada”, written for the Economics 490 course taught by Associate Professor Kevin Milligan. The prize is offered to an undergraduate student who has written an outstanding paper in Applied Economics and is made on the recommendation of the Vancouver School of Economics.

Sophie graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Majoring in Economics.

About the Prize

The W. Erwin Diewert Prize in Applied Economics has been endowed in honour of W. Erwin Diewert, an internationally renowned Canadian economist specializing in problems of Economic Measurement, a Distinguished Professor, a recipient of the Killam Prize, the Purvis Prize and the Shiskin Memorial Award, and an advisor to statistical agencies of the United Nations, World Bank, European Central Bank, Canada, USA, UK and many other countries.
