Co-op Option

“The Co-operative Education program option at UBC allows students to combine their academic studies with in-the-field  experience. By observing how real-world work places function, students can bring a new perspective to their studies and get more out of their time at UBC. As well, having study-related work experience helps in obtaining rewarding employment after graduation. I encourage you to make yourself familiar with the program by checking out the information below, including the Student Profiles, or by visiting the Arts Co-op website. Best wishes with your studies.”  Dr. Nisha Malhotra, Co-op Coordinator, Vancouver School of Economics

Course Scheduling

Co-op students must complete the same degree requirements as other economics students. Scheduling courses can present a challenge for some students, as not all courses are offered each semester. For this reason, all Co-op students should meet with the Vancouver School of Economics Co-op Coordinator and discuss course scheduling.

In particular, Co-op students should be aware that ECON 325, ECON 326, and ECON 490 must be taken sequentially. That is, they must be taken one after another, not at the same time. Because these courses are not offered in every semester, students should take extra care in planning their schedules for these courses.
